avast and trojan guard

It's there any compatibility issue with using Avast and another resident anti-trojan software like trojan guard?

With both program accessing the same file there must at least be a slow down.

There will be a slowdown ofcourse, but I doubt it will be noticible.
(depends on your system and other things running ofcourse)

Too my knowledge there shouldn't be a conflict, but....
imho there is no need to run both.

I thought a Anti-Trojan software is better at identifying
trojan attacks than Anti-virus?

P.S. I went through your link but it seems to talk about malware removal, not detection.

A trojan is just one piece of malware. There are a lot more kinds. The way you describe (Avast+Trojan detector) would mean you also need to install seperate detection for:

- backdoors
- virus
- worms
etc etc.

There is really no need for it. If you have Avast, a good firewall, and have your security properly setup it will be sufficient to protect your system(s).

Remember, the weakest link when it comes to computers and security, is ALWAYS the user.

I do have Avast and Kerio so hopefully that will be enough.  I guess it doesn't hurt to occasionally scan for trojan and other malwares but no need for additional resident scanner.

Indeed. No need for another residential scanner.
I am working with comps for about 24 years and never had any malware on my systems.
(unless I puted it on there myself for demonstration purposes)
