Questions re avast! "Recommendations"
« on: December 30, 2012, 07:48:02 AM »
Hi Everyone
Could there be a few "teething problems" with the recommendations thingy?  :-\

1/. AFAIK a whole 1 person has downloaded and installed 'avast! 7 Free' using the "Recommendations" link from "My Account". How long should it be before "Your Invitation Status" ticks over from 0 to 1?

2/. The email message generated is as follows.

Hi, I’m using avast! Free Antivirus and it’s great. Say goodbye to your paid antivirus, as avast! is totally free and performs even better in tests.
Download and try it yourself:

Two problems.
(a) Obvious really. Apostrophes have been replaced by some sort of of Martian script.  ;)
(b) It clearly says "Say goodbye to your paid antivirus...", yet at least twice during installation (3 times if you include the 30-day AIS trial offer) you're confronted by dialogs that cast doubt on the effectiveness of the free product and suggest that you might need to pay for extra protection! ??? For me, if the "sales pitch" for AIS stays, then the email text has got to go.

BTW. Feel free to download and install avast! Free from my link... just as a scientific test to see if I eventually get the credit of course.  ;D

Still 0 after 3 days.

Now 5 days - no change.
Can anyone confirm a successful "Recommendation"?

Using the link isn't enough, they have to download it, install it and register it to count.

If they have done all of that then that should count and your question is a valid one.

I am facing the same problem. Even when I have installed on my sister dell machine. Even then there is no progress in that bar.
I have limited number of friends left to recommend and earn.
Any solution from anybody - will be appreciated?
