Effects of malware
« on: February 18, 2005, 10:08:32 AM »
Hi, I posted earlier about having 4 malware/virus infections that were caught and I sent them to the chest. I deleted the temp internet files (thats were they were). When I rebooted my computer Microsoft Antispyware detected "DL Helper Module" that was trying to be added at start-up and the path was from my documents and settings (this is the same path as the malware files were from, including one of the malware programs ended with start[1].class). I blocked the module from starting up.. sounds to me like it was from the malware, but the viruses were sent to the chest, I thought they couldnt do any harm there. Will avast cleaner or system scan detect these threats if somehow they have still managed to do harm to my computer?? Should I use trend.micro to do a scan as well? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Files that are in the virus chest indeed can't do any harm.
MS anti-spyware is still and beta and very unreliable.
I suggest you check your system following the instructions in the malware removal section on my website.
