Avast internet security 7 no UI
« on: January 12, 2013, 06:31:52 PM »
Hi,
I've just downloaded and installed Avast internet security 7 on my Windows 7SP1 home premium and I can't open it's UI (AvastUI.exe).
I've noticed the following entry "C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\avastUI.exe" /nogui in my HKLM\software\wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Besides that AvastSvc.exe service is set on automatic but can't be started.

Any ideas?

Which was your previous antivirus? How did you uninstalled it?

I was using an old version of avast that has expired, looked it up in the Add\Remove program but it was not on the list.
between the old version of avast and the new on I was using MS Security Essentials but did remove it using Add\Remove programs.

Repair avast!:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> avast!
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.
