Author Topic: Can someone help me configure Mac Mail/iCloud account to work with Avast Free  (Read 3392 times)

I run a Mac (10.8.2) using Mac Mail (6.2) with my iCloud account.

I am having difficulty disabling SSL in Mac mail for my iCloud account - to enable Avast Mail Check to work.

This is what I have done:

-- Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Advanced tab

-- uncheck SSL checkbox.  Port automatically changes from 993 to 143

I close and reopen Mail.  It seems to work until I close Mail and open it again.  When I try and send an email and see a warning notification next to my Inbox.  When I check preferences, the SSL checkbox is now checked (port is set to 143).  Something seems to be resetting SSL.

Has anyone experienced this and know a solution?

Hello,

You need to add you mail server to the mail shield settings in avast. Tumic has a great guide on how to do this here:
