False positive blocking of sites?
« on: February 10, 2013, 10:30:32 PM »
Greetings,

Recently (Thursday night) I was on ebuddy.com on my desktop, Avast thought it had malware, but I scanned with virustotal.com and nothing was found. The site is clean. I did a boot scan and it found nothing. It didn't go off except for when the browser stayed on ebuddy.com. I recently was on another reputable site and it found specificclick and blocked it, but I scanned the site with virustotal.com and nothing was found. It didn't go off once I went on that site again. I'm doing a boot scan on my desktop, and I scanned it with Superantispyware before. I also reinstalled Firefox. I went on, using my laptop, to ebuddy just now, and Avast responded the same way: claiming that the site had malware. I'm not sure if this is a false positive or what.

Thank you!

I get no alert there. You might have got it through your visiting specificclick a persistent malicious adware tracker.
You should read this and file up some logs: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
A qualified removal helper may appear to help you with the cleansing of it,

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

I can access to ebuddy.com. Maybe your virus database has been damage. Try to reinstall it.

Try a re-install seems to be your answer for everything ::) I suggest the OP stick with the information posted by polonus and jeffce.
