Outlook Express - can't get connection using Avast
« on: February 16, 2005, 06:00:58 PM »
Thank you for registration info.  I found when using avast that I couldn't
use my Outlook Express email facility - referring to some restriction by
avast prog.  Is this usual?  How do i get round this problem?

What OS are you using.

How have you set up your OE with Avast?

First of all, is Sygate allowing all avast components to access the internet?

Also what email are you trying to receive (from where)

If you disable avast, does your mail get though?

I can get Outlook Express up on the screen, but then get 2 lots of error messages relating to avast stopping somehting or other happening.  I can't then access any existing messages , emails etc.

I don't know how to look at Sygate to check what you ask - I'm a novice when it comes to anything that doesn't happen as it should.

When I removed avast - all works ok

Nigbo,

See the image below, i have highlighted the avast web scanner in a red box, as long as it doesn't have a cross or a question mark on it on your Sygate panel, then your sygate is alowing avast  ;).

What are the exact error messages?

hi m8 - put avast on computer again - ist message i get in outook express is :-

1The server responded with an error. Account: 'mailhost.zen.co.uk (1)', Server: 'mailhost.zen.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR concurrent connections limit in avast exceeded (processes:kavsvc.exe[20])', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90.

2nd error message is:-

The server responded with an error. Account: 'mailhost.zen.co.uk', Server: 'mailhost.zen.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR concurrent connections limit in avast exceeded (processes:kavsvc.exe[20])', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90

may as well be in Greek for all it means to me.

Sygate shows avast with a questionmark in it.  How do i enable this in sygate?

Can you identify the process kavsvc.exe? Is it Kaspersky Antivirus? (are you running KAV and avast at the same time?!)
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving's not for you.

Two resident scanners can cause conflict and on several occasions avast doesn't install all components (to avoid conflict and lock ups, etc.) because it finds another resident AV.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 23.1.6049 (build 23.1.7883.774) UI 1.0.746/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

How do I get Internet mail provider running

I have clicked on start but when I put my mouse on the a ball it only shows the 4 running that have always been.  I think that is my problem with getting the outlook express scanned.
It was scanned before the new edition
