OK, and when you turn off the WebShield, you can access http://192.168.100.1/ without any problems, right? :o

Hi Vlk.  Here is my set of logs.  First 2 lines is the loading of the page and 5 seconds later is when I click the button for after entering the password.

2/22/2005 7:03:00 PM,"http://192.168.2.1/","text/html","GET",200,0,4620,4693,427,397,4693,\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe,0
2/22/2005 7:03:00 PM,"http://192.168.2.1/favicon.ico","text/html","GET",404,0,54,105,358,328,105,\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe,0
2/22/2005 7:03:05 PM,"http://192.168.2.1/login.htm","text/html","POST",502,40,2001,2138,576,0,0,\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe,0
2/22/2005 7:03:05 PM,"http://192.168.2.1/favicon.ico","text/html","GET",404,0,54,105,358,328,105,\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe,0

I did a save link as for the 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.2.1/login.htm and I'm finding the 2 pages are the same.  Guess the 'server' default for no page is to 'serve' the login.htm I guess.

Just sent the zip for the 'next' page that I can get to only by direct linking as the first page was not able to forward if webshield is on.

I see this behaviour as well if I try to access my router on 192.168.1.1 . I just followed the earlier instructions to get a log, and here it is if it's of any help :-

23/02/2005 00:28:13,"http://192.168.1.1/","text/html","GET",200,0,1759,1840,437,407,1840,UNKNOWN PROCESS,0
23/02/2005 00:28:13,"http://192.168.1.1/favicon.ico","text/html","GET",404,0,54,105,368,338,105,UNKNOWN PROCESS,0
23/02/2005 00:28:14,"http://192.168.1.1/login.htm","text/html","POST",502,15,1991,2128,561,0,0,UNKNOWN PROCESS,0
23/02/2005 00:28:14,"http://192.168.1.1/favicon.ico","text/html","GET",404,0,54,105,368,338,105,UNKNOWN PROCESS,0

I'm using Mozilla Firefox btw, on Win2k. I've also seen the same thing happening on a friends computer with the new Avast, if they try to access their router page.

mfarmilo, what router do you have, exactly? Or your friend?

Thanks Vlk

And just a thought - wouldn't it be possible to make the router configuration available from the Internet?
Or maybe give us a Remote Desktop access to your machine?

Thanks!

I am also getting this error when accessing my local library's webpages through members' access.  The following is what Avast says:

"HTTP 502 - Gateway timeout
avast! Web Proxy

The proxy server did not receive a correct response from the upstream server specified by URI or the response was not understood by proxy.
Winsock: (997) Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.
GET http://198.108.98.21/patroninfo/1072829/searchcatalog
Winsock: (997) Overlapped I/O operation is in progress."

This is from a link accessed after logging into my account there.  I've turned off WebShield and the page is accessed properly.  I use ZoneAlarm Pro and am behind a Linksys router.  However, if there was a problem with the router or ZoneAlarm (other than the regular problems) I would not be able to access it with WebShield turned off and I can.  The ZoneAlarm work arounds do not affect this error.  I figure it has something to do with possibly going from one server at the library to another maybe (account server to catalog server).  For now, I am not using WebShield.  I don't need it to scan my downloads anyhow.

I am seeing this exact same problem here on a page that bridges to somewhere else... (webmail)

When I access that webmail directly, everthing works fine...

Probably, your timeout is too low, or incorrectly measured.  ???  When I submit the page, it takes a while before it returns (such as when posting file uploads for attaching files, saving router settings, ... ).

Another possibility would be that your HTTP handler incorrectly handles what is called 'chuncked encoding'. This is when a server cannot serve a whole page at once (because it takes too long to process) and therefore begins to dump what it has already got. Status would be 100 Continue I, rather than 200 OK ...

Also, here, this happens when POSTing data. So a thirth possiblility would be that your network handling stuff cannot handle sending and receiving data asynchronously at the same time?

edit: i have been testing a bit more and it seems as if it errors on actually receiving a response...?

hmmm..... I have this problem on my portable... I turned of the web shield -> problem not gone. I get a 'server not found or dns error' now on this machine.

The other machine (running the dutch version of avast) doesn't show this problem at all...

Also, I noticed that the machine where it doesn't work, doesn't seem to be able to pump upload data at full speed, whereas the machine where it does work, is.

Not sure if it's related to aVast anymore...   :-X

This Is what I get when I try to post usung FireFox 0.8 and Avast :

The page cannot be displayed
There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed.

Please try the following:

    * Click the Refresh button, or try again later.
    * Open the Web site home page, and then look for links to the information you want.
    * Check your firewall settings. The Web Shield process (ashWebSv.exe) must be allowed to access the Internet.
    * If you believe you should be able to view this directory or page, please contact the Web site administrator by using the e-mail address or phone number listed on the Web site home page.

HTTP 502 - Gateway timeout
avast! Web Proxy

The proxy server did not receive a correct response from the upstream server specified by URI or the response was not understood by proxy.

Winsock: (0) The operation completed successfully.
POST http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/postmessage.asp?s=1&c=1&t=59808
Winsock: (0) The operation completed successfully.

IS THERE NO SOLUTION!!!

What is wrong with firefox 1.0 or better still firefox 1.0.1 (the latest version)?

Firefox 0.8 is a beta version and may well be a contributory factor.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Thanks Avast team :)

Looks to me like they are all the same Website.
The website opens fine for me but I'm using an IE based browser.
