"Invalid context during scan" on my android device
« on: January 29, 2013, 04:18:14 PM »
Help!  I'm a novice to my android phone....avast did a scan this morning and found 15 problems all in apps I downloaded.  "Invalid context during scan" is the error reported.  Do I have a virus on my phone?  How do I fix it?  Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Hello,

the latest virus definitions got corrupted. We already took them down and are working on releasing a fixed version, but it might take a bit more time to do so just hang on, please. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

regards,

Werner

Hi,

it's already fixed. You can try manually updating the definitions (AMS-Settings-Updates-Check for updates now) or you can wait for the app to pick them up automatically.

So for the future how would I know if I really had a problem?

Hi,

if the results are yellow and contain a message like you have seen then it's a problem on AMS side. Actual malware results are red.

Filip

I am recieving the same message.
Just tried to manually update virus definitions got message: downloaded virus definitions invalid." Nexus 4.

Hi,

if you have "unknown" version of virus definitions, please, wait for an app update that is coming soon.

Thank you. That makes sense.  However, what does AMS stand for?
