New PC before it coms on the net.
« on: February 23, 2005, 09:37:09 AM »
Hi,

One of my friends father has a computer that is extremely infected with virus, and I decide to reinstall. When it was don ( I have unplug the ADSL connection until the security programs was install) I install my favourite program Avast home, so the computer was ready to meet the internet.  :D
But when the program was install it only works when it get a license key or go on the net. You are ask to buy the program and then linked to avast on the net. But I would secure the machine before it goes on the internet.
Have you a solution to that problem, for a new user?

Regards

Why not use another system to go online and get the key?

And although no key, Avast is fully functioning as trial version.

Don't forget to put a firewall on the system before going online

As Eddys said the program is fully functional as a trial, you have 60 days use without having to register.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Thanks for the quick replay.

Yes I know that Avast is fully functioning as trial version, but when you
are on a Computer with no Internet connection, then Avast ask you about a
Key, and are you saying No to that, the program close down.
You have to choice, go to Avast home site and look at the program, or inter the Key, and when you
Are not on the internet, you can not do that.
I have also set Zone Alarm on the PC and it works fine.

But now I know that, and next time I help a friend, I will get the Key first.

I really don't understand 'when avast asks for a key' there should be an option to use trial key or words to that effect, that is what I did and I wasn't connected to the internet at the time.

You are executing an avast setup exe file to install avast, it doesn't really matter where that file came from CD or Internet.

Yes getting a key first may be best, but if you register for him/them to get the key, using your internet connection and your email address you will be a copy of your own registration key not a new one for them.

There are two buttons - OK and Demo. If you click Demo, the field for the key doesn't have to be filled in (it is ignored).
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving's not for you.
