Avast PRO expires in x days
« on: January 30, 2013, 05:19:34 PM »
I'm new here so if this is topic or question has been created / asked .....sorry..... It's just that there's so many posts in so many threads and a search doesn't come up with what I'm looking for.

I installed avast free, it's running as the PRO version and now I've been getting a dialog daily saying the PRO version will expire in 14, 13, 12 days, and to contact my system supervisor - I'm a home user. I go to the avast site looking for the PRO version and I can't find anything on a PRO version for the Mac.

What gives?

The pro version is for business use, uninstall it and install the free version.

I thought I was installing the free version (as there is no download for the Pro version, just the free version) and when installed it asked if I wanted to try the Pro version for x number of days. I'll wait to see what happens at the end of the trial period.....

OK. As I'm not one of the Mac guys, I can't tell you what will happen. ;)

What happens at the end of your trial period is that you will cease to receive updates.
Look, it asked you if you wanted to trial the pro version and you said yes, so you are running the trial, if you wanted the free version instead you should've answered no.

Uninstall Avast, reboot, install again, and say no to the Pro version, carry on with life as usual.
