not sure
« on: February 21, 2005, 03:14:10 PM »
ran a search in forums on weatherbug.  Still not exactly sure what it is, but it showed up uninvited on my desktop and installed itself twice on my start menu.  Also, sent HiJack This logfile to my computer tech guy about a week ago.  he imformed me i have a keylogger installed on my new (used) computer, but when i hit hotkeys to bring up icon nothing happened.  I was hoping someone here could help me.  HP help and support is not responding and my ISP techsupport has been no help either.  Lots of strange things going on.  Passwords changing, e-mails about confirming address changes that i didnt make etc. etc.

- What OS are you using? is it up to date?
- What avast! version and VPS file (virus database) number, e.g. 0436-4 (see about avast!)
- What browser are you using? is it up to date?

If you haven already got these, download, install and run.
1. Ad-Aware
2. Spybot Search and Destroy
3. Spywareblaster

Eddy's Website click the "HiJackThis Section" and also the "Malware removal instructions and applications" section, and follow the directions there and get back to us if you need more help....

You can also try this online scan and then download A-squared free in addition to David's suggestion.

I have windowsXP
vps file number 0508-0, 02/21/05
I use IE browser, but I have no idea if its up to date.
I'm having a hard time getting anywhere today.  Have experienced instances where my default (and only) internet connection will no longer connect.  Spend hrs. w/ local isp tech support trying to install a connection that works.  Or, sometimes i can connect, but every item I open on desktop or in start menu tells me the page cannot be displayed. I AM FRUSTRATED!  Please give detailed instructions if you can, I'm still learning.
Thanks!

Those detailed instructions can be found in Eddy's website (the blue text 'website' is a link to it).

Have you done as I asked and downloaded, installed and run the programs that I gave links to?
