Grabit Slowed by Update ???
« on: February 22, 2005, 11:20:45 AM »
After update, Grabit slowed and seemed not to update groups.
Turned off Mail and all goes back to norm.

Is this a bug or do i need to alter it.

Failing that its getting UNISTALLED.

It was so good b4  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Could you please try an updated version? It should fix the problem.

Please follow these steps:

1. Stop the Internet Mail provider
2. download http://www2.asw.cz/~peterka/4.6.603/ashMaiSv.zip and extract its contents to the avast folder (overwrite ashMaiSv.exe - it shouldn't be locked thanks to 1.)
3.start the Internet Mail provider

Please let me know if there're any  problems...

Thanks

I just installed the patch, there is no noticeable performance decrease while updating and downloading with the Internet Mail provider enabled using Newsbin Pro.

This patch has also fixed the similar problems I was getting with XNEWS.  There is a problem now though that the auto-update feature keeps undoing this fix and reinstalling the original release version.

Any way to make it persist?

That's what the sum file is for. Did you place it to the avast folder, in line with the exe file?

Thanks, didn't realise, I hadn't copied this file across - thought it was just a checksum file to validate the exe.  All OK now.

Back again. ??? ???

The patch seemed to work at first.
But after varieing time frames reverts back to the original fault.
Reboot, resatrt grabit  the same.

Rather that constant downloading from Grabit. It becomes Stoccato.
Spikes every 15 secs.
Header downloading times out...so nuffin.

Any help or is it goin in the Anti Virus bin like so many others in there.

Ta Billy

Bollocks, hasn't the patched version been replaced by the original one (by the avast updater)?
Have you placed the sum file to the avast folder?

Can you check that ashMaiSv.exe in your avast folder is still the patched one, not the original one?

Well you can always disable nntp scanning (until the issue gets solved).
