I'll be on a web page and a banner will popup saying infection found error.prv.pl, what does this mean ? I have not been to any site with that url.

Could be the case another site is redirecting to that URL, or a frame in a page that uses content from that URL.

Probably, but as avast! blocked it, there shouldn't be a problem.
