Auto update not updating.

Hi all, anybody else having trouble with the auto updates since the latest version. It used to update automatically but now  is not doing so, even when I go to  "Update (basic)"  & click on  "Update now"  nothing happens, the only way I can get an update is to right click blue ball & select  "Updating"
Could it have anything to do with me going on to DSL a few days ago.

Don't you have the "I only connect via a dial-up connection" option set in avast?

Thanks for the reply Vlk, yes I do have the  "Direct connection (no proxy) " selected, & sorry I forgot to mention my O/S is Win. ME / Zone Alarm firewall with 2 Avast antivirus update programs allowed access, any other suggestions Vlk.
