Web shield problems with VPN
« on: February 23, 2005, 11:37:42 AM »
I'm trying to access various VPNs from my PC which is running the latest avast 4.6. I can connect to the VPN, I can telnet, I can run VNC. But when I try to access the remote router through internet explorer or firefox with its local IP address (for example 192.168.1.1), it asks for my password (as usual) but then doesn't respond any further. I've tried this with three different VPNs and they all behave the same way.

I can fix the problem by adding the IP address into "ignored addresses" in the avast webshield configration, or by terminating the webshield. It works fine then.

Is this a bug? I shouldn't have to tell webshield specifically the addresses of the routers I access remotely....

I'm using Windows XP Pro and the standard VPN client built into windows XP.
