I don't Understand Sandbox Mode...

I don't get sandbox and the explanations in the Avast Control Panel read more like marketing hype than an explanation of when and why one should use it. I don't get the what part of what it does.

Help me understand sandbox mode please.

Thanks but all that says about sandbox is it makes programs run in a virtual environment. What does that mean? How does it protect you?

I've got the Pro version.

True - and I do that.

In this case though I was interested in Avast's take on the subject and what protections it's sandbox mode provided and an explanation of each.

So far based on the replies I've gotten it seems that the typical high level of member expertise and helpfullness one finds on internet forums is - on the avast forums - limited to search nazis and "I feel obligated to respond even though I know squat about how to answer the question".

So - nevermind - I'll go elsewhere and search for information on the subject.
