So the wireless connects and then drops out is that correct ?

Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Devices
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
  • List Minidump Files

Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.

Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

ye, sometimes it connects for about 3-4seconds..then goes to limited access and then it drops out
and then sometimes it doesn't connect at all...it just goes straight to limited access

results are attached

Hmm the log looks OK, now I had something similar happen to me about a month ago.  Where the wireless signal dropped and failed to recover unless I rebooted the router.  It turned out the wireless card within the router was broken so I had it replaced .

As the Ethernet works I would tend to suspect something similar for you... Unless other computers using the router are not experiencing that problem

What is the wireless card on the computer as I will see if this is a known problem

It only seems to have a problem with this laptop. For instance, if this laptop is switched off/or the wireless is off, my brother's laptop would connect to the wireless perfectly fine. As soon as I turn the wireless on, on this laptop, the wireless would go down for my brother's laptop..hence...the wireless would not connect to neither laptops, ps3, iphone etc. I would then have to turn this laptop off...i would jus switch the modem on and off, and within a couple of minutes, my brother's laptop would connect to the wireless again.

How do I find out what the wireless card on this laptop is??

OK from that it seems as though your wireless is overloading/swamping the connection

Go to control panel > device manager
Open the network adapters
Right click the wireless adapter
Select properties
Select driver

Could you screenshot that please

OK I have just found the driver... And guess what was on the change log
Quote
Changes From Previous Version

Fixed: The Wireless LAN card stops working and can not be detected by the system.

Download and install the driver from here http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/downloadDetail.jsp?soid=2687256&pf=true

Let me know if it cures the problem

I installed the driver..restarted the laptop...and it had no affect...i don't think there was any change according to the version verification ( see attachment)

In that case I feel we are looking at a hardware problem with the WiFi card I will have a look around

correct me if i'm going mad, but the driver version 2007.1.1002.2009 from the website link you gave me (from the version verification section) is obviously not the same as the driver version that i have at the moment 2020.7.907.2011

BUT to me it looks like the numbers have just been re-arranged...could this be a fault...or is the driver version currently installed legit..so to speak

or am i just going crazy?!!
