Well.
Here's an update:
Now I get Avast Alert on my alternate Hotmail account too!

Infection Details
URL:   http://afe.specificclick.net/?l
Process:   C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox...
Infection:   URL:Mal

I'm thinking of deleting the Avast program & re-installing & updating.

hpHosts list it as ATF

it seems SAS (superantispyware) removes this cookie
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\HIL HIGHAM\Cookies\hil_higham@specificclick[1].txt [ Cookie:hil higham@specificclick.net/ ]

run it and see if anything changes...

I tried running SAS and the problem persists. SAS did remove 579 cookies though, and I ran it after I went back into Chrome and re-created the problem and it found 34 more threats.

Hi could you delete all the shortcuts for your browsers from the desktop and quick launch bar .. You can recreate them later

Once done let me know if the alerts persist
