new to avast

I just started using Avast 2 weeks ago and really like it but now I just upgraded from Win Me to Win xp-pro and I can scan my pc but  there is nothing in the toolbar running so I know it's not running correctly. Doesn't load at startup. Do I need to re-run the set up?? Thanks in advance :)

You need to reinstall Avast.

Chances are you also have that NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation value set in the registry.
