Locate by GPS times out
« on: February 13, 2013, 10:20:38 PM »
Hi all,

I'm testing Anti-theft on my Android 4.2 jellybean device but can't get the Locate function to work through the My Avast web portal. The command just times out.

GPS is already enabled in the phone settings. The phone is not rooted, but since GPS is already enabled in settings this should not be an issue. The device is also connected to wi-fi.

The Lock function works fine though so it seems my device can receive commands OK.

Any ideas on what's wrong here?

Thanks!

Hi,

Is your Anti-Theft version up-to-date?

Can you locate using SMS commands?

Yes it's up to date.

I restarted the phone and managed to get the Locate function to work, but it doesn't work every time over wi-fi.

It might be an internet provider issue. It worked 3/6 times.

When I turned wifi off, it worked over mobile data connection just fine.

Hi,

If it works, it won't be Anti-Theft issue. Tracking GPS via WiFi connection sometimes doesn't work correctly.
