I think it would be good for Avast! public opinion if WebRep was released as a standalone browser add-on in the Mozilla Add-on database along with the resulting support and review page from users of the product.  WebRep is competing directly with WOT and if it offers advantages over WOT then this would be the spot to showcase these advantages.

I don't regularly use Firefox, Opera, IE or Chrome (they are installed because I'm tech support professional and need them for learning), instead I use Palemoon fork of Firefox because it is so much faster than regular FF but Avast! installer doesn't recognize Palemoon.  Someone at Palemoon forums figured out how to get it to install for Palemoon and this is how:

No, it was my stupidity! I had foolishly installed the new extension whilst in avast sandbox mode! Once I installed it in normal pale moon out of the sandbox it worked perfectly both in sandbox and out. So, to summarise,

to get webrep to work zip the files in the avast webrep for firefox folder and change the zip extension to xpi then install by opening the xpi in pale moon.

Then works fine.

WOT shows you which websites you can trust based on millions of users’ experiences around the world to help you stay safe when you search, surf, and shop online.
Traffic light style icons guide you find trustworthy links on search engine results, social media, online email, and many popular sites
You can leave your own ratings to help other web users stay safe
Third-party trusted sources provide technical security

The WebRep consists of a network of information based on feedback from users of Avast. It is possible to indicate what is in the sites, not only for security, but also on its content.

you can see how other users have rated the site WebRep open in the browser. Beside, you can give your opinion, saying how much you like the site and indicating the contents (shopping, social / games, news / blog, IT / download, corporate, pornography, weapons / violence, gambling, alcohol / drugs, illegal downloading).

Very nice description of the two products Jefferson but I was suggesting that a standalone Webrep add-on/extension be released and listed in the searchable databases of add-ons/extensions viewable from the Firefox or Google 'Get Addon's' store.

It would be nice to see it as a featured add-on for a month.

WebRep is "not" security based. WebRep is a popularity poll only. It does not indicate whether any given website is safe or not.  :)

So WebRep and WOT are identical in functionality and type of polling used to get it's input?
