sage accounts 2012 pro and avast endpoint protection suite plus
« on: September 18, 2012, 10:27:11 AM »
hello
new to avast forums
used avast free @ home for years though..

we recently purchased enpoint suite pro
after installing to server & pc's sage accounting is running like a dog with 3 bad legs!
iv tried excluding folders and all known filetypes that sage uses but still having performance issues
sage access's the database over the network, accessing files on the server takes no time at all, but sage takes as much time as it wants..

is there a way to improve the speed of sage over the network whilst still having avast running??

Regards
Mike

Did you try to exclude the all network drives e.g. \\*

i have excluded the \\server\sage
i have also excluded a big list of the files that sage uses...ie *.DTA *.REP *.LAYOUT etc etc
iv also excluded c:\prog files\sage etc...and c:\prog data\Sage

still having VERY long delays when using sage for invoicing etc...

Do you map a drive and later use the mapped drive to access the files or you are using the full UNC path to the SAGE database?

thanks for your reply, sorry in the slow response from myself, it has been mega busy here.

for sage to access the company data it looks to \\<server>\SAGE2012
i have excluded \\<server> from the scanner but still havin the same problem, i have even disabled the network scanner and still having same problems
