Uncheck them both in msconfig and the Internet Mail should be working after restart.
Vojtech, after being powered down overnight, all providers are working.
this is the current status/information:
Event Viewer 3/15/2005 7:07:13 Event ID 7023
Service Control Manager >properties has this message:
the avast! mail scanner service terminated with the following error: cannot create a file when that file already exists.
msconfig>statup
one ashMaiSv box unchecked
one checked with the following:
command: c:\progra~1\Alwils~1\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exe
location: hklm\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurentVersion\Run
regedit:
hkey_local_machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
[ab] ashMaiSv REG-SZ c:\progra~1\Avast~1\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exe
hkey_Current_User (etc.)
no ashMaiSv listed
I am making the assumption that after deleting ashMaiSv in regedit and rebooting, that another entry is now showing in the hkey_local_machine area. Is this correct, and should it have happened? Or should that entry not be there?
Also, should the entry in msconfig>startup be deleted?
Thank you, Annie
