I have not tried to replace regserv32
Use the SFC for that. (INFO)

I don't know how to tell if there is an error in the device manager.
Open device manager and look if there is an exclamation mark or a red cross. (right click 'my computer' > properties > device manager)

It looks like for some reason ACTSKIN4.OCX is not registered correctly.

It's actually actskin4.ocx (it's the letter O, not zero).

Did you have this correct?

Thanks

I'd call myself someone who tries to understand people who don't quite feel comfortable with the avast fanatism some of our forum users are showing but in your case I really don't see your point. I just don't get it... :-\

Vlk, we are not fanatic.
avast has errors, bugs, can be improved, support always could be better, improve, etc. like any other software.

We all recognize this. Where is the fanatism?
Did you try to use other antivirus?
We tried... we fell comfortable with avast but seems you don't  ??? ::)

Won't you even comment this?  ??? ::)

Dear Technical, (I hate to be off-topic but this thread has more than 50% of off-topic posts already :-\) from some of the posts on the forum a reader may actually get the impression that we're blaming other programs/OS components instead of confessing that the problem in fact lies in avast.

Please note that I'm not talking about yourself (you have been very very kind even to novice users, and I thank you for this).

It's just that besides novices, there are also users with deep knowledge of computer security who somehow feel offended if the forum suggests that it's not avast's fault, it must be something else on their system. Or users that have paid for the program and came here to simply ask a question and get a clear answer - but instead their thread gets flooded with unrelated posts... :-[

Well, enough of that. I think we've all had enough during the weekend.

Happy Holidays.
