Timeout, did a search, is therre no solution?

I have been having this problem for the past fortnight.
I did a search, it appears many others are as well.
Is the only solution AVG?

If there is a fix could someone point us at it????????

Could you be a little more specific about your problem, please?

when I attempt to preview or post , I nearly always get this message:

I am using Firefox 0.8, XP Sp2 and a Netcomm ADSL Wireless router for a firewall, with no other firewall and MS XP firewall turned off.

It is not specific to any site , but happens to all forums.

I have used both Firefox and Avast for many months troublefree untill about a fortnight ago, I have read up at the Firefox site, and they blame Avast, however, it appears from reading here, others have this problem
but I have seen no fixes offered.

Your help appreciated.

Just downloaded Firefox1.01 and the problem  (for the moment) has gone.
I will keep you posted if it's a permanent fix. :)

Firefox 0.8 ? version 1.0 has been released few weeks (if not months) ago already... why didn't you update Firefox on time ?

Of course they blame avast!, that's naturall... let's put ball in their field. I am using Internet Explorer, Maxthon and Firefox 1.0.1 and I never experienced any of those problems, although I never tried Firefox v0.8 with latest avast! releases. Right now, we are at avast! 4.6.618 (beta) and everything works perfect as it should work...

Cheers !

Previewed  and posted OK , fingers crossed.

By the way, I was using Firefox 0.8 and Avast for many months with no problems till I downloaded an Avast update , whicvh I think causes changes in the system.

I don't normally run out and get every up date on everything that comes out. Does everyone?  XP updates excepted.

I've experienced some trouble with Firefox and avast Web Shield but, most of them, are corrected when I change the proxy settings of Firefox. It's weird, at the same time that I try to connect through IE everything works but Firefox not  :-\ :'(
Btw, I'm using the 1.0 version (1.1 was not released in my language yet).

Maybe this post from David could give you some light: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=11925.msg100817#msg100817
