Please help with mail scanner
« on: September 14, 2003, 03:40:44 PM »
 >:(  Ever since I downloaded the new version of avast, the mail scanner for Outlook stopped working.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling avast.  I keep getting the message that it is waiting for the subsystem to start.  This happens wether outlook is running or not.  I have tried stopping the outlook mail scanner and restarting - nothing.  PLEASE help me.

Do you try to use Mail Protection Wizard and configure manually the settings, I mean, turning off the protection and then running again the application (MPW) and turning on for all accounts?

Btw, which OS do you have?  ;)

If this is Outlook XP - I believe your Outlook has decided to disable avast for some reason - most often, it's because of an incorrect Outlook shutdown (it then disables all its add-ins).

The work around is simple: go to Help->About in Outlook, click Disabled Items, and if avast is there, remove it from the list (in fact, the list should be empty normally).

That should do it.
