Keyboard and touch pad not working after uninstalling Avast
« on: March 02, 2013, 06:40:35 AM »
Recently, my Avast antivirus upgraded from version 7 to version 8. I have some internet connection problem (internet connection problem has nothing to do with Avast antivirus), so I decided to uninstall the antivirus program to see whether or not it is causing the connection problem. When I restarted my laptop, I found out that my keyboard and touch pad are not working. I opened Device Manager and it shows that there is a problem with the registry. May I know what can I do to fix it?

Hi bobo1,

Thanks for your reply. I am using Windows 7 Professional. I have tried system restore and the keyboard and touch pad are working perfectly fine after the restore. But after I uninstalled the anitvirus program again, they stop functioning again.

Hi Pondus,

Thanks for your reply. I have followed the instructions to uninstall the anitvirus program. But after uninstalling it with the Uninstall Utility, it is still giving me the same problem.

Hi Pondus,

Thanks for your reply. I have followed the instructions to uninstall the anitvirus program. But after uninstalling it with the Uninstall Utility, it is still giving me the same problem.

You might as well try the procedure from this link:
http://blog.ryantadams.com/2008/01/18/keyboard-not-working-due-to-missing-or-corrupt-drivers-code-39/

The best way should be to restore to a point where everything is working , apply the above procedure and then uninstall avast! using control panel first and afterwards aswclear.exe in safe mode.
