avast and ms office
« on: March 02, 2005, 01:17:57 PM »
I have created silent installation from the pro version in my lan computers running on win 98.
If I want to access an ms-excel file in one lan machine from another machine and then try saving some changes in it I get a sharing violation error and a temporary file is created.
Sharing is enabled on all drives.
The problem is not there from the host computer or in ms-word.
I made the standard shield protection from "custom" which was there by default to "normal" and the problem disappeared.
Any loss of functionality or efficacy by changing settings from "custom" to "normal"???

Depends on the settings you had in custom. Read the help file and see what each one does/did.
