What do you mean with "The next version"?

avast!9 or the next step in the programm-update of avast!8?

I mean the next update of 8.0 (though not the one already released, it was just bugfixes with as few changes as possible).

All i am asking for is the ability to turn it off. You can turn off
the cloud crap you can even turn off certain shields. Why should
The app updater be differnt.

If you read this topic then you will have seen how to uninstall it completely. Reply #5 and #9.

Have you got version 8.0.1483 installed, if so you could check that.

Hi David,

first I installed version 8.0.1482 and the software updater works. But I don't want that.

Then I did this:

-Control Panel -
-Programs-
-Avast-
-chose "Change"
-then I removed the Software Updater.

This was on one of my Laptops.

But I have to update several machines and I don't want to go this way again, if it gives another easier solution.

Because of this, I asked, which version igor means, when he says, that "in next version" there will be an additional option to disable the feature.

What version does he means? I cannot proof that, because I updated to 8.0.1483 and (as I wrote) I have uninstalled the SU.

Which version it will be, where it is possible to disable the SU???

EDIT:

I mean the next update of 8.0 (though not the one already released, it was just bugfixes with as few changes as possible).

Does he mean the update AFTER 8.0.1483?

1. That is what was in the Reply #5 and #9 that I mentioned.

2. Download the installation file and use that on each machine - Then do an install over the top of the existing program, not from the UI. That should give you an update 'install,' this should allow you to select a custom install and uncheck the software updater module (in the same way you would using the control panel option).

If it doesn't offer an update install (but I believe it should) then you would either have to do it the long way as you have as that would be preferable to doing a clean install, depends on what you feel about a clean custom install, for me it isn't that much hassle, but that's just me.

3. Yes Igor does mean after .1483.

I was poking around in the Software Updater and discovered this little ditty to "Ignore" an update to listed programs you have.  Just click on "More details" and it will say "Ignore". You click on it and the program doesn't update anymore.
Ps..it stays that way too. ;-)

I'm not going to activate automatic updates because the first time I used software updater some of the programs were older than the ones I had installed.

Now showing everything is up to date.

hello,

as far I'm concerned I have 2 pc wxp sp3 + 1 w7.

On 1xp + 1w7 , I can see firefox but blocked on v19.0 (not see the last v19.0.2 to update before I do it directly by firefox own update)
On 1xp , I can't see firefox at all

The software updater is awesome overall, makes it much easier to update plugins etc without having to go to the related websites. There are however a few problems with it.

I have 64bit windows 7 and when it comes to Java 6 and 7, Avast is only able to update the 64bit versions. The 32 bit ones forever say "preparing" with the loader running but nothing ever happens. Might wanna take a look at that

Might also be nice if choosing ignore removed the item from the list instead of graying it out. It just gets annoying having programs I choose not to update there (aka the new garbage iTunes etc)
