avast installer
« on: March 06, 2013, 08:12:28 PM »
I really like avast 8. I have a simple question. Several functions (Browser Cleanup; Software Update) say they are not available and that additional components can be downloaded with avast installer. What is the story (I used the Browser Cleanup once) and where can I find the avast installer? Thank you.

hey it sounds like the installation /upgrade was not 100% ok for you. I suggest you do a clean instillation of avast and see if that could help you.

download the latest version of avast
uninstall avast from your computer suggest use the uninstall tool.
reboot your computer
install the fresh file you downloaded

registry the program

Control Panel > Programs > Avast > chose "Change".

Do you mean that?

Thank you ~Sky~. I tried your suggestion first because it was easier and quicker. After following your instructions, it promptly reverted back to installing avast 7. When I tried updating it from within avast, it only updated to avast 7 and not 8. I finally managed to re-download the program (the 30 day variety) install and insert my license file. It has now restored it so that the problem is fixed. Thanks again. Spoudason
