I am using Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro version 8.  This works well with Avast free 7 (especially including Outposts's Web Control) but I have my concerns that Avast 8 still has issues with Outpost and is at the root of lockups.

Thx for the update, so far so good even the last vers was good for me. I'm happy to see the development is fast. :)

Hello i'm glad CPU frequency has been fixed, Thank you =)

Also my Virtualization says Not capable even though its enabled, and if I uninstall Avast it says enabled.
Is there a reason for this? Or has Avast taken over the role of Virtualizing applications?

It froze my Win XP 64 bit machine during booting and after over 4hrs of screwing around in SAFE mode  I found this forum and on a thread back in 2012 which suggested disabling the Behavior Shield.

I did that from Add/Remove  Modify I think and it worked.

So now we need a Behavior Shield update that works for better for everyone.  I posted w more detail on another thread before I found this one.

I unticked "Scan all files" under "Scan when opening" tab in "File System Shield" Settings. Now I'm having no CPU problem. But the system is very vulnerable to viruses because Avast won't even scan .exe files in a folder when opening that particular folder in Explorer... Is there anything I can do for this?

Thanks for the links to the solution for Avast 8. After upgrade and re-boot my PC with Win XP Pro 32-bit started blue-screening and then would blue-screen on boot-up. I had to roll back the registry to yesterday to get it to boot up and now my Avast is not working but I' not blue-screening at least. I'm going to ghost the drive now in case anymore goes wrong when I try to re-install.

You don't need to enable "Scan all files" to scan executable files. They are scanned by "Scan when executing" category when executed, and that provides enough protection.
As setting description says, scanning all files eats up CPU consuming and causes slowdown.

Run the uninstaller for any AV's you use prior to avast from here to remove remanents: http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/

1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=117113.0
2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions..!!)
3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot
