My Vista with 64 bit support locks up after down load while re-booting. I had to restart in safe mode and go to an older Restore point to get my system to work. Does this fix stop that problem and is the Avast 8 now safe for Vista users?

I can not find a "for sure" answer is this fixed yet?

I've already apply the dynamic CPU clocking fix by Spec8472 and I can see the CPU clocking no problem, however the minor bug problem still showing because before I install avast I did see the virtualisation in the word 'Yes' and dynamic CPU clocking all working 100% before I installed avast. So when avast was installed and the fix by Spec8472 has been included however virtualisation in the word 'Yes', and the word has change to 'Not Capable' I believe this bug is causing by the add-on fix when we can see still the dynamic CPU clocking fix by Spec8472.

So when is avast is going to release the next version to have both dynamic CPU clocking and virtualisation working at the same time.

Avast 8 hijacks the virtualisation for supposed better protection, but it has a ton of compatibility issues.

You can disable Avast 8 hijacking it by disabling the driver.

Details are here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=116838.msg907693#msg907693

Then it will show as capable.

This upgrade broke the scanning of individual files by right clicking in explorer.

Instead of scanning the files selected, Avast now just shows an empty window, creates a custom task named "Four question marks" with no file/folder specified in its settings, and scans seemingly aimlessly, not showing any progress.

Also those program-generated custom tasks keeps reappearing no matter how much I delete them.

Webrep search result tooltip doesn't work. It worked fine on the early version 8, but after updating to this the tooltip no longer shows up on my search results. I've checked "Suppress tooltip on search results" on avast.

Well that may well be a consequence having disabling the tooltips, their (avast) logic may think that having disabled the tooltips what is the point of the icon. If I disable the tooltips , there is no webrep icon in the search results.

I've had it enabled the whole time. It works fine with IE and Chrome though. Just Firefox. And also Firefox no longer shows up on Automatic Updates. It was there on the earlier release because I was able to update Firefox through it.

My bad. What I meant about WebRep was it doesn't show site ratings on my search results on Firefox. And also Firefox no longer appears on Automatic Updates. However, Firefox shows up on the browser integration tab on settings. They were both working fine on the early version 8 until I updated to 8.0.1483.

OK... Upgrade from 7.0.1474 to 8.0.1483 using main GUI was painless, and the new version seems to be working just fine.
Simply clicked the Upgrade option and after rebooting, there it was. Win XP 32 SP3.
Many Thanks to AVAST!

If you use Mactype, exclude AvastUI.exe from using Mactype.
If not, try reinstall of avast.

Started the day with a blue-screen then Avast asked to do an update which I thought would stop the BSOD.  No BSOD today but then Firefox started crashing and I keep losing the sound on Firefox when playing videos.

It's all a bit annoying!
