Run the uninstaller for any AV's you used prior to avast from here to remove remanents: http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/
1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=117113.0
2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions..!!)
3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot

No, on my original laptop hard drive was no other antivirus installed was a fresh install of xp 2 years ago and originally on avast V6 all the way to this new version.

Also have a spare new 100gb ide disk and did a new install of xp sp3 and this blue screened with 0x0000000D1 ERROR. As other people are having BSODs running on another laptop under test same model as my original IBM T22 DOING MORE TESTS WHY I AM GETTING THIS ERROR
