I have had various problems with 4.6 version. I have 2 internet mail providers somehow.
This is very odd. Avast just can't "hook you up" to a mail provider. Removing the unwanted provider is not difficult. You do this via your email client (Outlook, Express, Pegasus, Thunderbird etc) in the options menu.
Yes, 4.6 sems to have some bugs, but they are being worked on. It is not a good idea to go backwards. I myself have disabled the Web Shield for now which eliminated most of my internet problems. The rest of the new 4.6 works fine.
My question is can I install the 4.5 version (which worked ok)
Yes you can. Uninstall 4.6 and install 4.5.
will it change to 4.6 version automatically when I reboot.
NO. Go into the Settings and uncheck the box to Auto update the program. You can leave the auto vps update checked. You will get an occasional message box telling you that a newer version is available.
I am a senior citizen who does not want much just to sent some emails and play some games once in a while
So am I! and look at me! I spend hours here helping people. The internet has so much more to offer than email and games. The WORLD is out there at the touch of a "mouse"
I would recommend that you remove the unwanted provider, disable the Web Shield and try 4.6 for awhile.
Good luck.
