Following the frustration of many users after upgrading to Avast 8, I'm obliged to offer a small bit of advice for new, not so new and even some older users.
Some of you would have downloaded Avast and just let it run, but there are some features which will help to soothe frustrations if ever there was a situation where you have to reinstall Avast.
One of these features is "back up settings" and to configure this just follow the steps below:
1) Open Avast
2) Click on "settings" in the top right hand corner
3) Click on "Maintenance"
4) Click on"back up settings"
5) Click on "continue"
6) Select location to save settings to. It is advisable to save to an external drive in case your OS has to be reinstalled. You can then reinstall Avast and follow
steps 1, 2 & 3 and click "restore backup". This will restore the settings from your previous Avast.
