My scheduled scan work fine. I do a quick scan once a week when I know my machine will be on. If my computer is not on I will catch it the next week.
So you may want to reconsider scan frequency. With all of the resident shields the need to run daily scans is greatly diminished.
That being said try a repair. Control Panel>Uninstall>double click "avast">click "repair">reboot.
