Software Updater vs. Google Chrome
« on: March 06, 2013, 09:31:45 PM »
The updater can indicate that a Google Chrome update is needed but clicking on Fix It just results in ERROR showing up in the updater status for Chrome.
This isn't a big issue since Google Chrome is pretty aggressive about updating itself.  But if the Software Updater includes Chrome, the indicated update should actually work.

The Google Chrome updates initiated from the Avast Software Updater always fail with "Error".  Nice, eh?

Not to worry.  Just start up Google Chrome, click the Customize button (in the far upper right corner) and then select "About Google Chrome".  That will cause Chrome to check for an update and install it if available.

Google Chrome is fairly aggressive about finding and installing updates.  So if you use it regularly it will take care of itself.  You should just ignore the Avast Software Updater for Google Chrome.

That's what I do.
