I want to go back to Avast 7.....
« on: March 16, 2013, 01:06:34 PM »
My only question is this, where can I get the link to download the last version of Avast 7?

Let me put a little meat on the bones for you. I am running windows 7 64 pro on an Intel I5 platform with 16 gig of Ram 256 OCR SSD drive. The machine used to run like stink. Now I am getting not responding when opening browsers. I want to go back to happier times.

I found that site, but I wanted the avast site so I knew I'd be getting bona fide software. Does anyone have the MD5 for the last release of avast 7 so I can check the Old apps site version?

Did you update through avast itself? I did and had the same problem. I uninstalled it and installed fresh from downloaded file and all was as normal.

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions. I tried running a clean install of Avast 8, but it didn't do anything to speed me up. So I went to old apps and downloaded [avast_free_antivirus_setup_7.0.1474] then I looked up the MD5 and SHA-1 number of the old apps download using MD5_SHA-1 Utility. I did a search on the hash numbers which all came back to genuine Avast 7.0.1474. I then installed it and guess what, it runs like stink again!

Back to the future baby!

I wonder why this topic can have so many posts, without just one of them inform the hash...
Here it is: Avast_free_antivirus_setup_7.0.1474.exe MD5: C49D9245586816869F2D05037544D131

Why is that a different MD5 hash than the one given at oldapps.com for Avast Free
Antivirus 7.0.1474? The MD5 and SHA1 checksums given there are correct for the
download of that file from that site.

Where did you get yours?

Also, is there perhaps a difference in the minor version numbers?
e.g. - 7.0.1474.765

I think it is due to the minor build number. As far as I remember, my file is downloaded from Avast.
Here is some data on my file:
v7.0.1474.766
Signed on 17. december 2012 14:23:33
Size; 102.315.992 byte

Well I had to go back too. After a while it started again with the slow down of programs opening, not shutting down properly. Version 7 is working fine so will stick with it untill something changes and 8 gets fixed.

Cheers.

Skins have long since shuffled of their mortal coil and gone to meet their makers; they died a death with the introduction of avast 5, so unless you get in at the death throws of avast 4.8 (no much more time for that), no more skins.

Hi,

I have problems with Avast 8 too. It blocks websites, even mine and they are totally clean. Anyone knows how to go back to avast 7? Or does anyone know a good alternative antivirus?

thanks !!
