Free update issue.
« on: March 16, 2013, 06:15:30 PM »
First I have to apologies if this is covered elsewhere, I'm not seeing relevant information.

New home PC up and running a couple of days ago, went with Avast Free, it seemed to install and function as expected until today.

Told a program update is available, but on telling it to go ahead with the update it states on the update tab that it wont update unless I activate trial mode.

Doing so I have gone from a years licence to 29 days and the update info now states:

Quote
Current version:  8.0.1483

A new version of the program is available! Latest program version 8.0.1455

Can anyone tell me how to get back to the simple free version with a working licence?

Edit- Anywhere to ask about this that does not require both login details and recaptcha?  Recaptcha is a horrendous irritant at best.

1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions..!!)
3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.
