WebShield problem
« on: March 25, 2005, 05:17:44 AM »
I’m presently using Avast 4.6 Home Edition (free) and all my usual websites and others work correctly except for one.  For some reason http://www.mtbr.com will only download the header unless I disable WebShield.  This problem occurs with both IE 6.0 and Firefox 1.0.2 and I’m at a lost has to why that is.  Any ideas?

No problem with FF 1.02, Adblock with latest Mr. G filter - and same Webshield - SP2 firewall though. However I applied the beta- thingy they posted some time ago so Im post 623. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=700bd5b8ca2164ddb2553427aac1ca47&topic=12015.15 Scroll down to VLK  Read whole thread, new file was made as answer to user complaint which was verified.

Actually the page loaded a bit slow, I also only saw header for 2-3 seconds, then it started coming. Also have Flashblock installed btw, took care of at least 1 :)

On Win98SE it downloads the entire page just fine with FF and a little slow with IE.  On WinXP it has the same problem described above.  Both IE and FF.

This is very slow in loading for me (but the whole page loads not just the header), the firefox throbber continues to spin, the pages looks like it has loaded but is still waiting data from consumerreview.com (I stopped the loading in the end). There is an awful lot of third party images/ads being loaded.

Are you using some form of cookie blocking in either your browser or firewall, some sites react badly to blocking their cookies. Based on the number of ads, I suspect they have a number of tracking cookies which they would want to run.
