Since update no services will turn on.

Hi,
Since I updated and re-registered, none of the services will turn on. I have rebooted several times. I have restored the system to a previous time then re-updated avast! all to no avail.
Clicking "Enable all shields" under "avast! shields control" does nothing. Clicking "Start" or "Resolve all" on the home page does nothing. Clicking on the individual shields on the Maintenance page then on Start produces a pop-up which states "Unable to start the ___ Shield! Shield unreachable".

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Running 8.0.1483 on Win7 64. Also running ZoneAlarm free Firewall with all Avast parts given "super" permission (in case that's relevant).

Repair avast!:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> avast!
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

Asyn.  Clicking on "Uninstall/Change" Gets me an "Avast! setup fatal error" of "Error reading product data from C:\Program Files\Utilities\Avast\setup\part-setup_abp-ffffffff.vpx". Setup cannot continue. This same error message comes up when trying to reinstall or uninstall Avast.

I have downloaded and run an uninstall tool then used the "force removal" feature only to have everything remain unchanged after reboot. I have attempted to simply delete any and all Avast files but despite being the administrator it refuses to comply telling me I need administrator privileges to do so.

I can't uninstall it. I can't reinstall over it. I can't fix it. Any assistance would be really appreciated.

Also, Windows 7 x64 doesn't have "Add/Remove Programs" it has "Programs and Features".

1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions..!!)
3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.
