What does clean history do

Under the shields (web mail file etc) does the clean history just remove entries listed or does it delete the entry from HDD.  My Chest is empty but I have entries under web shield.  So Did avast just block the trj therefore not put in the chest because the trj never made it to my HDD?

The web shield never moves files to the chest, instead it blocks them to be written to your HDD. The "clean history" button just deletes the shield history log, it has nothing to do with files on your file system.
