Same here (SGH-I317M - Note 2 Canada): after updating Polaris to version 4.0.3303.01.FT03 (from the Samsung account) Avast reported Android: MTK-A (Trojan).
ACTIONS:
- Although there were others signaling this, I have also reported it on
Polaris' Facebook page (
https://www.facebook.com/Polarisoffice)
- I have installed the OFFICIAL
Kaspersky Mobile Security and ran a full scan -
no virus, trojan or malware was found. It seems to be a "false positive" but even so this is concerning: as a member and frequent visitor&contributor to XDA Developers I have bumped into several complaints lately. Now it seems it's our turn. The antivirus reporting all these occurrences was always Avast, but the allegedly infected apps would vary by platform and phone manufacturers.
- Haven't uninstalled Polaris (I need it) but I have revoked most of its excessive permissions (call phone, send sms, read & modify contacts as well as I have put it under Avasts firewall so it wouldn't be able to access the internet - unnecessary anyway). To revoke permissions root is required.
- Please join me in a concerted effort to force Polaris to remove this EXCESSIVE, INTRUSIVE and UNNECESSARY permissions.
I hope somebody from Avast will jump in and tell us what is really going on here.
