Connection established...connection not established.....connection established.....connection not established.....and so it goes in the world of Avast. Must be the Easter Bunny nibbling on their servers!

Mine shows enabled but no connection established.  Did a repair, rebooted but didn't change anything.

Just reset to default settings so now showing connection established.

Well it's certainly a cloudless sky tonight over Manchester.  At least I'm not the only one to be cast adrift by Avast!

Try a repair. Control Panel>Uninstall>double click "avast">click "repair">reboot  :)

A really don't think a repair is going to help with this condition, the connection being established or otherwise is unlikely to change as a result of a repair. If it did it is more a coincidence than by design.

I tend not to get overly excited about monitoring if the connection is established or not, nothing I can do about that. Currently it shows connection not established, yet I have had 43 streaming updates today and that is much more relevant. That said I rarely even check up on that either.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Somewhere in 22:00 (MSK) Avast stopped getting streaming updates.
Streaming updates enabled and not connected. At first thought it was for me with some settings, but it turned out that I was not the only one. I have in my exactly the situation like mistercee.
Apparently, the problem with the server Avast happened.

As a user of Free I can't complain especially considering the Streaming Updates is but one aspect of Avast's effective protection.

Nor is it much of a concern to me within my strong layering schema.

However, they do tout it highly and were I a paying customer I would venture to say I'd like a Web site to check on the status.  Norton has a nice example for its Connect Safe service:
http://status.nortondns.com/
(Disclaimer: if there is such a site, I'm too dense to find it.)

After observing today's on-again off-again connectivity and not having received any updates in over six hours it would be nice to check on the service.  Down for maintenance.  Server overload.  Contract employee stumbled and knocked over a patch panel...

Otherwise, there's always this forum where I can poke about and see I'm Not The Only One.  ;)

Seems you can kick the thing into life by going to Cloud Services settings and disabling then enabling streaming updates.  It dies again very soon after and nothing useful seems to have happened.

It seems like their servers are stuffed because mine is getting disconnected as well...

Also as DavidR said, not much one can do about it, as this is an external connection issue and not a resident fault on your system.

It's the servers.  Not surprised, as Avast! is and will always be a prime target for black hats.

Just updated to version 8 via clean install, and last streaming update noted was 3/30/2013 (using the month/date/year convention used by avast! here) @ 7:33:42 AM when I still had version 7 running, so...  wait it out and it will be fixed.  Connected, not connected, connected, not...etc., until fixed.  This is only a symptom, not an error in your avast! installation.

Last streaming Update was at 12:25PM on 03/30. That was 17 hours ago. Florida, USA. Those Easter bunnies have been very busy inside Avast's servers.

One of the many possibilities for server failure.

Even when the connection is established, streaming updates still do not come. Last update received 30/03/2013 at 17:44:33 (UTC). However database updates come regularly (130330-1 03/30/2013 at 21:04:27 (UTC)). Should contact support.
