Is there a popup blocker?
« on: March 13, 2005, 10:44:05 PM »
Hi,

I have a question concerning popups: I need to desactivate a popup blocker; does avast 4.6 home edition have one? I already did everything with the Internet Explorer, still there are popups blocked. I need a popup window at a site I need for university.

Hope someone can help me, thanks,

Christina

No, avast doesn't block pop-ups.

What did you do in IE to allow them?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Yes, I did, but it doesn't work  :(

I did deactivate the popup blocker, and followed the steps the website I need did advise.

What can I further do?

Use Maxthon browser for instance (www.maxthon.com;)

Firefox also has pop-up blocking capabilities, it is also more secure than IE and less prone to adware and spyware.

Avant browser also has pop-up blocking, but like Maxthon, it uses the IE browser core.

Please read what MrsParis is asking for......

She wants to DEACTIVATE a pop up blocking situation.

MrsParis,
Are you using a firewall?  If your FW is blocking the domain from which the popup originates, it will not show.  You can enter the domain name in the Trusted Sites in Internet Explorer which will fix this if it is the cause.

What OS are you using?  If you have SP2, then you will need to adjust the settings in the Security Console.  What version of IE?  If the problem persists, this info may help me figure out what is going on.

Thanks
