Avast deleting demo programs, again.

Nothing this demo group makes is malware or a virus. hxtp://www.farb-rausch.com/ Their stuff should be whitelisted, *permanently*. Every time there's a new major version of Avast, it wants to delete some of those demos.

Just had it claim "fr-024 welcome to" is malware and delete it. I'm getting fed up with continually having to submit these over and over as false positives!

Why doesn't Avast have an option to NOT move a file to the chest AND submit it as a false positive AND place it on the whitelist right there and then? If the user is submitting a file as a false positive, I assume the user knows the file is NOT malware and wants to run or open it.

But nooo! Avast yanks it away because the users must all be drooling idiots who don't know anything about their own programs they've had and run for years without any problems.

Hello
if you think the files are false positves, send them to virus@avast.com and put "false positive" to email subject.

It doesn't seem to do any good to submit them. Some of them I've submitted three or four times but usually with the next major update to Avast it's wanting to delete them again.

Antivirus programmers should examine demos like these to improve their product's ability to reduce false positives. There's thousands of very arcanely coded demos which do all kinds of amazing yet completely unharmful things.

fr-08 .the .product generates a couple of gigabytes of 3d geometry, audio and textures on the fly from a single 64k executable, it's 13 years old and will run (barely) on a fast 80486. farb-rausch has always pushed the limits of PC and Windows technology. Anti malware programmers could learn a lot from them.

Now it's even easier to learn what makes this group's demos tick because they've released most of the source code to the tools used to make the demos, and have plans to release all the source.

The "major program update" has nothing to do with detections - they are fully contained in virus definitions and identical over program versions.
So if your file is detected (let's say by an on-demand scan), it would be detected in any program version.
