Question about Network Shield Stats.
« on: April 14, 2013, 08:29:05 PM »
Sorry to start a new thread, this has nothing to do with the streaming updates.

This morning Avast! blocked what appeared to be a malicious ad banner from appearing. Now, when I check my Network Security stats, it's displaying something like 33617/1. And when I check today's stats, it reads - Connections blocked: 1 total, 1 max, 0 average.

What does the 1 max mean?  (I'm currently running a full scan, just to be sure nothing came through.)

I believe it means the maximum number that were blocked in a single session (however long you had the computer on), I feel it is an irrelevant stat as all you are really interested in those that were blocked. If you change the Time period you may see a difference, I have to view last year to see the max figure change from 1 to 2 in a day, so pretty much an irrelevance.

You would really have to be a stats buff to get excited about that ;D

See image, I found that in a day, 8,075 checks were made and 2 detections in that day, since that is the highest figure for that reporting period, that is the max figure.

Oh - that makes sense! It was the word "Max" that had me worried...just wanted to be sure. :D

Thanks, DavidR.
