Generic Host Process?
« on: March 16, 2005, 07:08:58 AM »
I've been receiving a messege on the startup of my computer that says:

"Generic Host Process for Win32 Services encountered a problem and needed to close."

Error signature:
szAppname: svchost.exe  szAppVer: 0.0.0.0  szModName: unknown
szModVer: 0.0.0.0  offset: 00000000

i have windows xp home, sp2, latest updates.  i heard that it might be the worm blaster or sasser, but i have all the latest updates and should be get those right?  So can somebody tell me what might be causing the problem?  Any replies appreciated, thanks.

Disable things from loading at boottime one at a time. Reboot after you disabled one and see if it is one of the applications that is loading at boottime causing this.

If you want to make sure your system is clean, click on the link in my signature and follow the instructions in the malware removal section.

Have you installed any new software or windows updates, etc recently after which you noticed the error messages. They would be the prime targets to disable first as Eddy suggests.

Thanks for the replies, i did a system restore and the messege is not poping up so far.  Can this be caused by something other than viruses and malwares?
