Avast 8 WebRep and software updater issues?
« on: April 18, 2013, 12:12:51 PM »
Hi there,

I decided to try avast 8 beta and I am impressed how llight it actually is.
I can hear increased disk activity and I monitored the I/O activity but I need more time to determine if this is caused by avast.

I'll check the file system shield settings again and will give avast enough time to build its cache database.

Now about the issues I encountered so far.

WebRep doesn't show the ratings in firefox from the first time. I need to hit the refresh button and then they appear as they should. (Firefox 20.0.1 Final).

Avast software updated asked me for a password at log-on? (Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 fully updated). I tried to enter the password which I used to register here - https://my.avast.com/home and it didn't accepted it. I also tried with the password for my main Windows account and the password used to register here at the forums with no success.
It gave me an option to switch back to my user account and then I was able to Log-on. I did a search for account called "avast software updater" and I didn't find such? I think to uninstall avast software updater to see what will happens and I'll let you know about the results.

Also avast browser cleaner asked me to uninstall TrackerBlocker because of poor rating (2 stars) but here he have (4 stars rating):
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/trackerblock/
From where avast browser cleaner take the rating? Anyway I uninstalled this add-on just in case.

Thank you for your time and keep up the good work! :)

Regards,
Georgi

Btw I encountered another strange issue. When avast! is set to ask for action when it found malware (it give me a windows with 3 possible answers - move to chest, delete and block)...The first two settings didn't worked for me (I don't know why)...only when I selected block avast! take some action. When avast is set to deal with viruses, pups and suspicious files automatically then it was able to move the file to virus chest.

I am testing 8.0.1485 at the moment which is currently at beta stage (yes I know). :)
